Nouis Eating Disorder Fic Setting Visuals
I've been thinking about my Eating Disorder Fic (and not writing it, oops) and I'm debating between two settings. The first is a classic English setting, somewhere up north, which is probably better if I want Niall to be somewhat famous. BUT, I keep having this thought of "What if they lived in semi-rural Michigan?" (aka, where I grew up). I might do this setting for my Gryles Petting Zoo fic instead, but either way, I spent today thinking about what the ED fic would look like in MI and here's what I've collected, if you're curious:
So in this version of the story, I'm thinking Niall grew up in the Upper Penisula but then moves "down south" during high school when his dad gets a new factory job at one of the Ford plants closer to Detroit (which is my equivalent of an Ireland-->England move). So this is where he grew up:
and it's on Lake Superior, so it has beautiful views like this:
And then they move to a place like this, very classic, Main Street Michigan:
And then Niall goes to NY or LA or something, but that falls apart, so he moves back home. He moves into an apartment building and it's probably one of only apartment buildings in town, and it houses mostly young people/young families (the older folks live in the duplex subdivision on the outskirts of town). It's probably just something pretty non-descript like this:
And in the story, Liam owns a grocery store that Niall ends up working at that probably looks like this:
and I don't know, maybe there's a shitty little bar they all hang out at sometimes:
Also (not relevant to this story but relevant to recent Nouis Rap Battle discussions), all the boys would come pre-loaded with the ability to drunk-rap Eminem songs, because most Michiganders can.
